Paul Mashatile’s wife: Who is the ‘second lady’? [photos]

Fears are mounting over Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s health after he collapsed at a public appearance on Saturday, 14 September. The 62-year-old had been accompanied by his wife, Humile Mjongile when the health scare occurred. 

Paul and Humile –  who have a 24-year age gap – wed last year after both their partners died in 2020.

PAUL MASHATILE COLLAPSE – IS HE IN POOR HEALTH

In a video that has gone viral on X, Paul Mashatile was seen collapsing on stage while delivering a speech at the N’wamitwa Day Celebrations in Tzaneen, Limpopo.

According to the SABC, the Deputy President was taken to hospital for medical attention.

In an official statement on his X account, Paul insisted that all was well. The 62-year-old claimed his fainting spell was due to the heat and being dehydrated.

While delivering his keynote address, the Deputy President felt lightheaded from the heat and was attended to by his medical team.

We can confirm that the Deputy President has received the necessary medical attention and is well.

Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba, who is a medical doctor, added that Paul Mashatile was in good health.

She told the broadcaster, “The deputy president is fine. He is with his medical team. I was with them. He’s okay, and there’s no need to worry.”

WHO IS THE SECOND LADY?

In pics posted on X before his collapse, Paul Mashatile was seen attending the Limpopo event with his wife, Humile Mjongile.

The second lady was seen arriving in a red pant-suit, which she later changed to a more traditional look.

But who is the beautiful, younger woman, and how did she meet the “2IC”?

Paul Mashatile’s first wife, Manzi Ellen Mashatile, died in July 2020 after contracting Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Humile’s first husband, former ANC Western Cape secretary Songezo Mjongile, died just three months later after a battle with colon cancer. At the time, Paul was the treasurer of the ANC.

Interestingly, Paul and Songezo were both ANC colleagues and friends, and the former even delivered a eulogy at his pal’s funeral.

It’s unclear when the couple began dating, although reports state that they attended the wedding of Tokyo Sexwhale and Nataxa Da Silva in 2022 together. According to TshisaLive, Tokyo was also a guest at Humile and Songeza’s 2011 wedding, where he toasted to their “long and happy lives.”

Paul has four children with his late wife, while Humile has two from her marriage to Songezo.

The couple’s nuptials occurred just days after Paul was sworn in as SA’s new deputy president.

JILTED EX LOVERS?

While Paul Mashatile is a happily married man, his relationships with his ex-lovers have made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The Citizen claims that Paul allegedly dated Gugu Nkosi, a businessman, while still married to his wife, Manzi.

Gugu claims Paul blindsided her when he married Humile instead of her.

Another ex-girlfriend, Norma Mbatha, shared similar claims that she had been Paul’s “lover for many years,” reported The Star.

Paul, via his advisor Keith Khoza, slapped both women with protection orders.
