Otuoma, Omtatah win Busia county top seats

Former Funyula MP Paul Nyongesa Otuoma is the designate Busia Governor.

Otuoma (ODM) clinched the seat after garnering 164,478 votes against his closet challenger John Sakwa of Amani National Congress who got 92,144 votes.

He replaces outgoing Governor Sospeter Ojaamong who lost the Teso South parliamentary seat to Mary Emase of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Elsewhere it was a landslide win for human rights activist Okiya Omtatah of the National Reconstruction Alliance (NRA) in the senatorial race. Omtatah got 171,681 votes while ODM’s Hillary Itela came second with 59,276 votes.

He thanked the people of Busia for believing in him pledging to discharge his duties in compliance with the constitution.
