Orlando Pirates players return for preseason, familiar face spotted

Orlando Pirates players returned to training on Friday to commence with their preseason preparation for the 2019/20 PSL campaign.

The club posted a short clip of players returning for preseason and one player that caught attention was Boitumelo Radiopane. The exciting youngster was loaned out to Cape Town Spurs last season playing nine matches. The 21-year-old attacker is expected to travel with the squad to Europe in the coming weeks.

Orlando Pirates will travel to Spain for preseason where they will play against Plymouth Argyle, Sevilla and Al Sadd SC. Last week, the Buccaneers announced the departure of six players including Kermit Erasmus and Fortune Makarine.

This week, Orlando Pirates Football announced the signing of Delvi Miguel Vieira. This is the first signing the club has announced so far.

“The 23-year-old joins the Club on a three-year deal after passing a medical and finalising personal terms.Delvi, who is better known as Gilberto, joins the Buccaneers after two seasons with Angolan Girabola champions Petro du Luanda,” the club said in a statement.

The club has added a new player to boost their attacking options. With the likes of Tshegofatso Mabasa firing, Gilberto will need to find his scoring boots before the season starts. The Angolan featured in this year’s African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast helping guide his team to the quarterfinals.

Gilberto confirmed as a new addition to the Pirates squad

Gilberto is due to fly back to Angola to finalise the necessary paperwork so that he can join the Orlando Pirates squad for its outbound Preseason Tour to Spain from 8 July The next week, the team will be assessed as they prepare to face three top teams in Spain. The Buccaneers are familiar with Spain having had their 2023 preseason there last year.
