Orlando Pirates no longer have their destiny in their own hands!

A disappointing 1-0 defeat away to TS Galaxy means Orlando Pirates have work to do on the final day of the DStv Premiership season.

Orlando Pirates register two poor results in a row

The Buccaneers have hit a poor patch of form at the worst possible time. Consecutive 1-0 defeats against Richards Bay and TS Galaxy mean their CAF Champions League qualification hopes aren’t in their own hands. The Sea Robbers face SuperSport United on the final day of the campaign. Second-placed Stellenbosch, one point ahead of Pirates, meet Richards Bay away from home. If Stellenbosch match or better the Pirates result, they’ll seal CAF Champions League football for next season.

Seven Orlando Pirates players were included for Bafana

Defenders Tapelo Xoki, Thabiso Monyane, Innocent Maela and Nkosinathi Sibisi join attackers Evidence Makgopa, Patrick Maswanganyi and teenager Relebohile Mofokeng. Mofokeng’s maiden call-up has been celebrated by many quarters on social media. The youngster has three goals and five assists in the league this season. That form has alerted suitors in Scotland, Austria and Egypt. Tshegofatso Mabasa, the current leader in the Golden Boot race with 15 strikes in the DStv Premiership, is controversially left out.

BUCS OFFER OLISA NDAH A CONTRACT UNTIL 2027?

As per Soccer-Laduma, Orlando Pirates are keen to tie Olisa Nda down to a brand-new contract at the club.

“You know his (Ndah) initial contract is ending in June this year. He joined the team (Pirates) in 2021, signing a three-year contract, but now the club wants to keep him further. It’s true last season was not a good season for him, but he has come back strong this season. Everyone at the club is happy with his performance, and that’s why they are offering him another three-year deal, until June 2027. From where things are, we can say it’s as good as done. Because it is about a 90% (chance of being) done soon. Since he is playing this season, he also wants to stay, and that makes things easier for all the parties involved,” said the source.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MABASA’S OMISSION FROM THE BAFANA SQUAD?
