Orlando Pirates fringe star talks ambitious goals and role models

Orlando Pirates midfielder Siphelo Baloni isn’t a first-team regular but he sounds bullish about his chances to change that.

Baloni outlines his role models in South African football

“I just need to collect all the information that I need in football,” Baloni told iDiski Times.

“That’s all I can say to you. I just need to gain experience, get some game-time and then after some years I will be someone else. I don’t like to mention other people’s names because I can also be Thembinkosi Lorch in the next two years, or not, or Teboho Mokoena.

“But I like to say that I can be someone else. All the Thembinkosi Lorch, Mshishi [Themba Zwane], I am talking about the best players, Teboho Mokoena, [Bathusi] Aubaas is also there, [Kamohelo] Mokotjo.

“I’m talking about people who are playing in the middle. Those players have experienced some challenges in their journey. Now is our time to face those challenges and we still have time to enjoy football,” he added.

Orlando Pirates looking at Jayden Adams

The Buccaneers see 23-year-old Stellenbosch and Bafana midfielder as the perfect man to come in and rival Makhehlene Makhaula for a place in their engine room. With Sundowns also interested, Pirates are preparing an offer that includes cash, and Goodman Mosele is potentially moving to the Winelands as part of the deal. Mosele spent last season on loan at Chippa and minutes in the first team under Jose Riveiro this term have been hard to come by. Adams has two caps for South Africa and is highly thoughts of around the league.

“At the moment the way things stand, Pirates are in a much better position to sign Jayden (Adams). They have offered Stellenbosch FC money plus Goodman Mosele for that deal to go through,” the first source told Soccer Laduma.
