Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu face off in Nedbank Cup replay

Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu will resume their battle in a DStv Premiership match at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

These two teams are set to battle it out just a week after their thrilling cup encounter at Moses Mabhida Stadium. This time around, the stakes are high, with three league points on the line.

Usuthu will be looking to prove their worth after their loss in the Nedbank Cup. Although they are currently in the bottom half of the league table with just six points out of a possible 15, they will be aiming to improve their recent return. A win on Saturday could take them from 12th place to within a touching distance of the top eight.

Pirates, on the other hand, are on a roll and high in confidence after scoring an astonishing 11 goals in their last two games. Currently in third place in the standings, they are determined to add another three points to their tally. If they succeed against Usuthu, they could even swap spots with second-placed Stellenbosch.

Defensive duo Nkosinathi Sibisi and Tapelo Xoki are both back in contention for places in the match-day squad after being suspended in their last game. Pirates also have the benefit of striker Evidence Makgopa’s return after over a month on the sidelines.

For AmaZulu, midfielder Ethan Brooks is again an option for coach Pablo Franco Martin against Pirates, He comes after serving his one-match suspension that forced him out of the cup quarterfinal.

Pirates have had the upper hand over AmaZulu for a long time, having emerged victorious on seven occasions. The last time AmaZulu won was in an away league clash in August 2013.
