One of Africa’s brightest young talents signing to Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs have an array of promising youngsters, from Wandile Duba to Mduduzi Shabalala.

Now, it seems central defender Xolani Cossa is next in line for a promotion. The highly rated 20-year-old has been patiently waiting his turn.

How good is Cossa?

“He is a rare kind of central defender”, a Siya source confirmed.

“He is left footed but a central defender. You remember Tefu Mashamaite? That kind of defender. Very rare. That’s why the technical team has agreed with the DDC coaches that he should be promoted to the first team.”

He is like Rushwin Dortley. Very skilled and good both in the air and on the ground. They want him to be an understudy to Dortley and he will be playing in most of the friendly games so that he can acclimatize with playing for the first tea.”

Kaizer Chiefs’ have problems at the back?

New signing Inacio Miguel has been a paradoc for Kaizer Chiefs, providing stability at the back four but picking up nearly a card a game, which has led to two suspensions in his first two months at the club.

“I looked at the captain, Inacio Miguel. I think he’s a top footballer, but he’s got to be less emotional,” Mike Makaab said on GagasiFM’s ExtraTime. 

“He is going to get yellow card after yellow card and red card after red card if he doesn’t calm himself down.”

“As a captain, you need to have that composure and that sense of calmness so that when the young players around you are losing their heads or feel initiated or feel overwhelmed, it’s then your senior players that have to steady the ship,” Makaab added. 

“Unfortunately, Chiefs’ senior players never steadied that ship at all.”
