Ondo anti-corruption chairman advocates for synergy among agencies

Justice Williams Akintoroye, Chairman of the Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crime and Anti-corruption Commission Compliance (SPFACC), has emphasized the need for synergy among anti-corruption agencies to successfully combat corruption.
Akintoroye, a retired judge, made this statement during a capacity-building workshop for local government officials and stakeholders in Akure, Ondo State capital.
He stressed that competition among agencies, such as EFCC, ICPC, and Code of Conduct Bureau, must cease, and their work should be complementary.
Akintoroye noted that corruption has permeated every stratum of society, contributing to underdevelopment in Nigeria. He highlighted the consequences of corruption, including: Failing education system, Hospitals without drugs, Insecurity and Bad roads.
He emphasized the need for a collective effort from government, citizens, civil society, public and private sectors, and multilateral agencies to mitigate corruption.
Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Amidu Takuro, declared the workshop open. He stated that the workshop aims to instill good governance virtues, transparency, accountability, and zero-tolerance for corrupt practices.
The workshop featured technical sessions handled by experts, including: Dr. Olukayode Daniel Adekeye (Fellow, Anti-Corruption Practitioners Network), Barrister Cyril Akinrinsola (Retired Permanent Secretary/Solicitor-General), Prof. Adeyeye Adewole (Certified Risk Assessor) and Mrs. Funmi Osundolire (Board member, Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crime & Anti-Corruption Commission)
The workshop aimed to orientate local government officials and stakeholders on anti-corruption, promoting accountability, probity, transparency, and good governance.”
