Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Idris Wase, has described mother of Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, Alhaja Lateefat Olufunke Gbajabiamila, as a caring mother whose live for humanity and the less privileged is legendary.

In a congratulatory message on her 91st birthday signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Umar Muhammad Puma, the Deputy Speaker recalled her contributions to laying the foundation of modern day Lagos.

He said even as a nonagenarian, “Alhaja has continued to cater for people irrespective of their social status, religion or ethnicity” adding that “For her, every human being deserves to be loved and cared for.”

The Deputy Speaker lauded her commitment to the service of Islam as exemplified in the significant roles she played as a devout Muslim and foremost leader in the Ansar-u-Deen Society of Nigeria.

“Mama’s commited spiritual life and service to Allah is never in doubt. We all know the very important and motherly roles she has played in the activities and sustenance of the Ansar-u-Deen Society of Nigeria.

“Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila is only following in Mama’s footsteps as a renowned politician and leader that helped in laying a solid foundation for the development of Lagos state.

“I recall vividly that as the first elected female local government chairman in Lagos state under the administration of Late Governor Lateef Jakande, Alhaja contributed in no small measure in laying a solid foundation at the grassroots for making Lagos the true centre of excellence.

“I pray that Allah will continue to bless Alhaja Lateefat Olufunke Gbajabiamila with good health and longer life, so that her children and the younger generation would benefit immensely from her wisdom and wealth of experience, “Wase said.
