OFFICIAL: Medeama defender Abdul Fatawu Hamidu completes transfer to Ghazl El Mahalla in Egypt

Egyptian club Ghazl El Mahalla have completed the signing of Ghanaian left-back Abdul Fatawu Hamidu from Medeama SC.The team, newly promoted to the top-flight league, aims to bolster their defence for the 2024-25 season, starting in September.Hamidu has been instrumental in Medeama’s success, notably helping them secure their first-ever Ghana Premier League title in the 2022-23 season.He also played a key role in their historic run to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.Since his national team debut in September of last year, the 25-year-old has attracted interest from several clubs.Hamidu was handed his first senior national team cap in a friendly match against Liberia at the Accra Sports Stadium, where he excelled.Although Egyptian giants Zamalek SC showed interest, their coach ultimately passed on the opportunity, allowing El Mahalla to move forward with the deal.Hamidu’s addition is expected to significantly enhance El Mahalla’s campaign in the Egyptian Premier League and other domestic competitions.The defender completed his medical check-up in Egypt a few days ago and signed his contract on Thursday, as confirmed by Medeama.
