ODM leaders express strong support for President Ruto
A faction of the opposition continues to express its support for President William Ruto and his administration.
In light of recent political developments, which have seen members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), led by Raila Odinga, appointed to key cabinet positions, ODM leaders have reaffirmed their full backing of the head of state and his agenda for the country.
“Lazima Rais wa Kenya aheshimiwe. Sisi tulikuja kuungana naye na sasa tuko na broad-based government. Kama wajumbe wa ODM, kiongozi wetu Raila Odinga amekaa pamoja na rais na watu wetu wengine wameingia kwa serikali kufanya kazi kama mawaziri,” said Makadara MP George Aladwa.
Aladwa, a staunch political ally of Raila, insists that the partnership between his party leader and the President is beneficial for the country and deserves the support of all Kenyans.
“President wetu William Ruto, vile mlichukua jukumu na kiongozi wetu Raila Amolo Odinga kuleta nchi pamoja, tunawasupport mia kwa mia,” he added.
The outspoken lawmaker stated that come 2027, the party will rally behind the President for re-election.
“Kuna viongozi wengine hawataki watu wasupport broad-based government yako (Rais Ruto) na Raila. Lakini sisi tunasema mwelekeo wenu 2027 ndio sisi tutafuata. Watu waacha fitina na mambo ya roho chafu,” noted Aladwa.
“Rais William Ruto, songa mbele, tuko nyuma yako, tutakuunga mkono. Hakuna cha story hapa na pale,” declared the Makadara lawmaker.
His sentiments received support from Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Pasarris.
“Mungu wetu ameweka Rais wetu William Ruto na kiongozi wetu wa ODM Raila Odinga pamoja ili Kenya iweze kusonga mbele. Hatuwezi enda mbele bila amani,” said the Woman Rep.
Pasarris also chastised members of the clergy who recently spoke out against the current administration, stating that their criticism is unjustified.
“Watu wa kanisa ambao kila saa wanatisha tisha Rais wetu William Ruto na kutabiri mambo ambayo si mazuri tunasema wao wapate matumaini. Mungu wetu anapenda Kenya na anapenda Rais wetu,” argued the Woman Rep.
The lawmaker, who was accompanying the President at a church service in Nairobi, urged everyone to rally behind the current government if Kenya is to achieve lasting development.
“Serikali ni yetu sote. Tusiwe kila saa tunaangusha serikali yetu. Kama tunataka serikali ituchunge, pia sisi tuwe watu ambao tunaheshimu law and order. Hatuwezi kuwa tunatusi serikali asubuhi mpaka jioni. We have to work together,” she said.
