NSA rejects Tarkwa Municipal Assembly’s attempt to take over TnA Stadium management

The National Sports Authority (NSA) has firmly stated that the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly “cannot take over” the management of the TnA Stadium, as tensions rise over control of the facility. The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, which invested over $16 million in building the stadium, handed it over to the NSA in August for maintenance. However, within a month, the Municipal Assembly voiced concerns about the upkeep of the stadium. Municipal Chief Executive Benjamin Kesse revealed that a committee had been formed to manage the facility, citing issues with its functionality. In response, NSA Deputy Director General Bawa Majeed dismissed the Assembly’s claims, insisting that the NSA remains in charge.”They have not taken over and they cannot take over like that,” Majeed told Asempa FM, explaining that while the NSA would work closely with the Assembly, the stadium is public property and not solely for the Municipality. This dispute comes amid broader criticism of the NSA over the poor state of national stadiums, which recently led to the banning of Baba Yara Stadium by CAF and the dismissal of Dodzie Numekevor as NSA Director General.
