Northern Uganda Paralegals Get Bicycles to Fight GBV

The National Union of Women with Disability Uganda (NUWODU) has donated 80 bicycles to Community Paralegals in Northern Uganda.

The Bicycles were distributed in the districts of Oyam, Gulu, Kiradongo and Gulu.

According to Mrs. Rose Acayo Obol, the Chairperson of NUWODU, the bicycles have been handed out to help the Community paralegals to access the different areas in the community where they work.

“We have trained these Paralegals and we believe that they can work well.” Said Mrs Obol.

She added that the Paralegals will be working to sensitize the public on gender based violence against persons with disabilities

Ms Teddy Luwa, the Woman Councilor 5 disability for Gulu district applauded NUWODU for the support saying that these bicycles will go along away in helping PWDs in accessing justice and knowing about government programs

Assistant C.A.O Gulu district, Auric Oryem urged PWDs in the district to stop despising themselves, but to be appreciative and get involved in income generating activities
