No refunds: DStv Delicious says after Janet Jackson cancellation

US musos Jason Derulo and Busta Rhymes have officially replaced Janet Jackson as the headline act for Saturday’s performance at the DStv Delicious Festival.

However, while many have expressed their excitement at the new lineup, others are unhappy with the choice of artists and have demanded a refund.

Unfortunately, organisers have claimed that this is not an option.

The festival takes place at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on 21 and 22 September 2024.

MIXED REACTIONS: JASON DERULO, BUSTA RHYMES REPLACE JANET JACKSON

Earlier this week, Janet Jackson pulled out of the DStv Delicious Festival after the sudden death of her brother, Tito Jackson. The original member of the Jackson 5 reportedly died from a heart attack last weekend. Unsurprisingly, Janet revealed that the family tragedy had halted her plans to visit SA.

Organisers of the event then gave patrons attending the Saturday event – which Janet was billed to perform at – the option to exchange it for the Sunday show, featuring fellow US crooner Jill Scott.

However, in a turn of events on Wednesday, 19 September, organisers announced that they had secured not one but two headline acts for day one of the music and food event.

They are pop singer Jason Derulo and rapper Busta Rhymes.

On social media, there were mixed reactions to the artists. Some were overjoyed, while others were underwhelmed….

NO REFUNDS, SAYS DSTV DELICIOUS FESTIVAL

Those who were left disappointed  – particularly Janet Jackson fans –  voiced their desire to have their money refunded.

However, DStv Delicious Festival organisers claimed that this was not an option.

The official X account responded to one tweep: “We know this is frustrating. Tickets are sold with the understanding that events may change.”

Organisers shared a link to a “FAQ,” which claimed that Ticketmaster – on behalf of the festival – could “not offer any exchanges or refunds if you’re event is going ahead on the date originally planned”.

It responded to another tweep: “Please note in accordance with our terms and conditions, tickets are sold with the understanding that the program may be subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control”.

DO YOU THINK THAT DSTV DELICIOUS FESTIVAL ORGANISERS SHOULD GIVE PATRONS THE REFUND OPTION?
