No R10 million offer from Kaizer Chiefs for Appollis

No R10 million offer from Kaizer Chiefs for Appollis

While Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed their interest in signing Oswin Appollis from Polokwane City, the latest news from a leading reporter on Amakhosi will deflate a few fans.

KAIZER CHIEFS TARGET OSWIN APPOLLIS NO LONGER GOING TO ALGERIA

Firstly, the good news. As reported on Tuesday, Appollis’ proposed move to Algeria’s MC Alger fell through.

According to SABC Sport’s Mazola Molefe, the 23-year-old’s club, Polokwane City and Alger, failed to conclude a deal after initial agreements, with the Algerian transfer window closing on Wednesday.

“SABC Sport can reveal that winger Oswin Appollis’ much-publicised move to Algeria is hanging by the thinnest of threads,” the report said.

“The public broadcaster first reported of the potential transfer for the Bafana Bafana international to MC Alger after Polokwane City had agreed to sell the player before the start of the Betway Premiership. It has now emerged that weeks later, the North African outfit and their Premier Soccer League [PSL] counterparts are yet to formally sign off the paperwork for the move to be finalised.

“MC Alger are now in a race against time with the Algerian transfer window deadline scheduled for midnight on Tuesday. Further complication is around whether Appollis would also be able to complete a medical in time should the two clubs reach a binding agreement.

“The imminent collapse would then open the door for local clubs, especially Kaizer Chiefs, who have made it clear they have Appollis on their wishlist,” the report added.

THE LATEST

Subsequently, further reports in local media suggested that Amakhosi delivered a R10 million offer to sign the former Cape Town Spurs winger.

However, Molefe, who is a goto reporter for Kaizer Chiefs exclusives, has revealed that no offer has been sent to Amakhosi for Appollis.

“Reports that Oswin Appollis has joined Kaizer Chiefs after a supposed R10-million bid is not true. – No official bids – No personal terms agreed – No deal,” Molefe said via X.
