New US Ambassador Presents Credentials To Minister Kutesa

The new American Ambassador to Uganda, H.E Natalie E. Brown on Tuesday presented the copies of her diplomatic credentials to Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa.

Shortly after presenting her diplomatic credentials, Ambassador Brown promised to strengthen friendship between both countries.

“I look forward to representing the United States in Uganda and strengthening friendship between our people,” she said.

“It is an honor to represent the American people in the Pearl of Africa. I look forward to getting to know Uganda better and working to help empower Ugandans to secure a brighter future for themselves and their country,” she added.

H.E Brown, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister Counselor, was confirmed by the US Senate as American Ambassador to Uganda on August 6, 2020.

She previously served as the Chief of Mission of the US Embassy in Asmara, Eritrea from 2016 to 2019.

Other senior leadership positions include; Deputy Permanent Representative and Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Mission to the UN Agencies in Rome, Italy from 2013 to 2016 where she was elected to represent North America on the Finance Committee of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.

Ambassador Brown also served as Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia from 2010 to 2013.

Her previous assignments also include; service as Economic Counselor of the US Embassy in Amman, Jordan and the Political Chief of the US Embassy Kuwait City, Kuwait.

 

In Washington, she served twice in the State Department Executive Secretariat’s Operations Centre, including as a Senior Watch Officer and as an International Affairs in the office of the UN Political Affairs in the Bureau of International Organization Affairs.

Ambassador Brown earned her B.S from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and was awarded her M.S from the US Marine Corps Command College in Quantico, Virginia.

She speaks French and Arabic and has studied Italian, German, Amharic and Tigrinya.
