New Music Friday: DJ Zinhle leads the pack with ‘Siyabonga’ [listen]

New Music Friday is back with amazing new music from all your favourite artists both locally and internationally. This week, there is amapiano, afro-soul, hip-hop and an electronic offering from Grammy-nominated Mura Masa.

DJ ZINHLE – ‘SIYABONGA’

Kicking off New Music Friday, DJ Zinhle teamed up with amapiano giant Kabza De Small, Black Motion and powerful vocalist Nokwazi on a new single titled Siyabonga. The single is her first for the year and it has already received plenty of praise from Mzansi.

NOMFUNDO MOH – ‘NGINJENA’

KwaZulu-Natal-born songstress Nomfundo Moh is on the rise in the South African entertainment industry. The young songstress has already collaborated with the likes of Ami Faku, Sha Sha, De Mthuda and she is paving the way for her debut album. 

Her new single Nginjena will form part of her debut album Amagama set to be released on 28 January.

YANGA CHIEF – ‘MDOGISH’ FEATURING TMAN XPRESS

Sama award-winning rapper Yanga Chief is back with a new single titled Mdogish after releasing Ntoni Na featuring Blxckie and 25K earlier this year. The single is a fusion between two stunning genres, kwaito and hip-hop.

PHANTOM STEEZE – ‘ZONKE’ 

Phantom Steeze is one of SA hip-hop’s most energetic rappers and always stuns with his colourful tunes. Phantom Steeze teamed up with Riky Rick and part-time collaborator Costa Tith on a new single titled Zonke

The hip-hop song has some trap elements to it and shows off Phantom Steeze’s infectious personality.

DJ GANJANI – ‘EMAKHAYA’ 

House music giant DJ Ganjani is back on the scene with his first release of the year. The 52-year-old DJ featured platinum-selling rapper Kwesta and afro-soul musician Sino Msolo who sings beautifully on the track.

MANANA – ‘I CAN’T BELIEVE I GET TO CALL YOU MINE’

Swazi-born artist Manana’s voice is certainly stunning! The young singer serenades his fans with a love song titled I Can’t Believe I Get To Call You Mine. Although his fans might not be too sure who it’s about, one can guess that Manana is taken.

MURA MASA – ‘2GETHER’

Alexander Crossman aka Mura Masa took a different turn with his new single release. The Guernsey-born electro DJ turned down the bass for 2Gether. The track is in celebration of his fourth Grammy nomination.

DJ STOKIE – ‘SOKE S’BONE’

Amapiano pioneer DJ Stokie released a short and sweet 4-track EP just before a highly-anticipated December. The EP titled Soke S’bone features Sir Trill, Loxion Deep, Nobantu, Jay Sax and Murumba Pitch.

BEN DEY – ‘IN FLOW’

Limpopo-born musician Ben Dey has officially released his debut album In Flow. The 10-track album features the Mutual Brothers, Tye Waves, Rough Child and Zac Overdose.

AUBREY QWANA – ‘AMALOBOLO’ 

Afro-pop artist Aubrey Qwana is widely known for fusing hip-hop and maskandi into his music. The 29-year-old artist delivered a sweet release in his new EP Amalobolo. The 6-track album featured Tshego, Zamoh Cofi and maskandi artist Khuzani Mpungose.

KHANYISA – ‘SOFT’

TikTok star Khanyisa has released her new EP Soft that shows off the “softer side” of amapiano. The 5-track EP also features her hit track Bheka Mina Ngedwa featuring Marcus MC, Lady Du and Tsiki XII.
