NDC largely responsible for Amidu’s resignation – Dennis Aboagye

A member of the National Communication’s Team of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dennis Miracles Aboagye says the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) should be blamed for Martin Amidu’s resignation.

Martin Amidu on Monday, November 16, 2020, resigned from his position as the Special Prosecutor.

Mr. Amidu further said while he believed that he was executing his mandate independently, the reactions he has received concerning the work makes him convinced that he was not expected to exercise his independence as a Special Prosecutor and that makes his work untenable.

I. 2374).”

Mr. Aboagye on Citi TV’s Breakfast Daily, however, insisted that the NDC has not given Mr. Amidu the peace of mind to do his work since his appointment.

He cited recent comments by the former president describing Mr. Amidu as a coward for citing the infamous Airbus bribery scandal in the corruption risk assessment report on the Agyapa Royalties deal as an example to support his claim.

“Martin Amidu was appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo and everyone knows he is a long-standing member of the NDC, a once top official in an NDC government. He was appointed by the president on the basis of being an anti-corruption crusader because he wanted to fight corruption if not so, there were a lot of people he could have appointed. So it tells you that the president looked at his resume and knew he could do the work as the Special Prosecutor to build to the office for this country. So if Martin Amidu is resigning today, 90% of the blame should go to the NDC.

<img class=lazy src=
