The former Chief Whip for National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the tenth Parliament Hon Ruth Nankabirwa has petitioned the Secretary General of the party Hon Kasule Lumumba seeking to have disciplinary action taken against former Speaker of Parliament Hon Rebecca Kadaga for working against the party decision by contesting as an Independent in the recent speakership race.
Nankabirwa says punishment should be imposed on the former speaker in order to maintain discipline within the party and to deter other members from such acts in the future.
“She is not the first person to disobey the orders of the party but it has never happened among the members of Central Executive Committee(CEC),” Nankabirwa said
She added that being the third person within the party command, Kadaga had to act as an example to all other party members.
However, the former government whip denied having a personal grudge against Mrs Kadaga, adding that she was only critiquing her as a party leader.
“If there is anything that I did to her and requires my apology, I will definitely do it once it’s brought to my attention but for now I don’t have any.”
Kadaga early this week lost her speakership seat to Jacob Oulanya 310 to 197 votes
Since the election, Kadaga has not publicly commented on the exercise or revealing her next step.
