Museveni Meets State House Fraud Victims, Orders Arrests

President Yoweri Museveni has ordered the arrest of officials who are said to have been involved in fleecing the public of billions of money in the name of benefiting from government programs.

Museveni said this while on his campaign trail in Northern Uganda.

“I met with the victims who lost billions of shillings to a one Pastor Siraje Ssemanda (dealing with some Gov’t officials) in the name benefiting from government programs. I condemn this act and therefore direct that whoever was involved in this scam is arrested henceforth,” Museveni said

The victims and whistleblowers met the President through the Anti-Corruption Unit which has been spearheading the investigations into this scam.

The government officials according to the unit are Hillary Musoke Kisanja, the chief coordinator of “Skilling Uganda” a state house program for the youth, Catherine Kusasira who is the presidential advisor on Kampala and a city pastor Mondo Mugisha.

The state house Anti-corruption unit earlier this arrested pastor Semanda who was remanded to Kitalya prison. It also summoned Hillary Kisanjja, Kusasira and Pastor Mondo who were grilled for hours by detectives.

Lt. Col Edith Nakalema the head of the unit said all the suspects recorded statements and were wait for the next course of action.

In the scam, a senior police officer identified Mate Godfrey who is at the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police was arrested and is under investigations.

The President’s directive however indicates that all the suspects face arrest.
