Murdered young mother, Angelique Fourie, laid to rest

The young mother, Angelique Fourie, who was brutally attacked and murdered in front of her three-year-old daughter in their home in Trichardt, was laid to rest.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE BRUTAL MURDER?

A funeral for Fourie was held in Eendracht on Thursday.

The ex-boyfriend of Fourie, Christopher (Stoffie) Graham Watson, will remain in police custody until his next court appearance on 18 January 2022.

This comes after he withdrew his own bail application in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga on Wednesday.

Luke Enslin, senior investigator and member of private detective MikeBolhuis’ team, told the media on Wednesday that there was no merit to Watson’s bail application – especially given the serious nature of the crime.

Watson turned himself over to police a day after the young mother’s bloody body was found in her townhouse in Trichardt, Mpumalanga.

BOTH FAMILIES WERE PRESENT IN COURT

Families of both families were present in court. Angelique’s mother and friends reportedly wore shirts that read ‘Justice for Angie.’

According to reports, Angelique was stabbed multiple in the neck during the attack.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Valencia Koma, said police received a complaint from the Cosmos ridge Terranova complex in Trichardt.

On arrival police found the house locked and there was smoke coming out from the window.

She said they found an injured neighbour in an ambulance who explained that he was having coffee with Angelique at her house when her ex-boyfriend arrived. He was aggressive and started to fight with them.

The neighbour managed to escape to go and call for help.

According to reports, Angelique and her ex-boyfriend were high school sweethearts who broke up just over a year ago.

Angelique’s father, Awie Fourie, told the media that they were devastated.

He said Angelique’s three-year-old daughter told them she saw her mommy get hurt and that there was a lot of blood.
