Mulago Doctors Separate Conjoined Twins
A team of doctors at Mulago National Referral Hospital has conducted a successful operation to separate a pair of Siamese twins.
This development was revealed Tuesday morning by the Health Ministry Permanent Secretary Dr Diana Atwiine.
Without divulging details of the twins, the PS revealed that the operation lasted up to 20 hours.
According to the pictures from the operation, the twins were joined around the pelvis area.
“Thanks to the team. We continue to strive towards excellence in specialized health car,” Atwine said.
By publication of this story, officials at Mulago Hospital were set to address the press about the operation.
The Health Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Ainebyoona told ChimpReports that the surgeons themselves will provide details of the operation at 2pm this afternoon.
