MP Ndamira to Head Kabale District Roads Committee

Catherine Atwakire Ndamira, the Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament has been elected as the new Kabale District Road Committee chairperson replacing the Ndorwa East Member of Parliament, also the Shadow Attorney General, Wilfred Niwagaba.

Ndamira, an NRM member of parliament was elected unopposed in the meeting that was held on Friday in the office of the State Minister for Industry David Bahati, at Farmers House in Kampala.

The 11-member committee comprises of all Members of Parliament from the district, the district Chairperson, the Kabale Municipal Mayor and two engineers one, from the district and the other from the Municipality.

The others are, the district Chief Administrative officer, the Municipal Town clerk and the district secretary for finance, works and technical services.

Speaking after her election, Atwakiire pledged to work with other leaders in the district to make sure that all the roads in the district are in good condition.

She promised to use the fact that she seats on the Budget and infrastructure committees of Parliament to lobby and ensure that conditions of all roads in the district are improved.

Nelson Nshangabasheija the Kabale LC5 Chairman says that the selection was carefully thought after because of Atwakiire’s experience in Parliament and how she has previously lobbied for the district.

He also said that there is need for government to increase on the money that it gives to the district as road fund saying that the funds allocated are meagre.
