Missing out on 2025 AFCON will help us to revive our football – Ghana legend Rev. Osei Kofi
Rev Osei KofiLegendary Rev. Osei Kofi believes that the countrys football scene could experience a revival if the Black Stars fail to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).The four-time African champions find themselves in a challenging position in the qualifiers, currently sitting third in Group F with only two points from four matches. Their record includes a 1-0 loss to Angola and a 1-1 draw against Niger. In a doubleheader against Sudan, the Black Stars were held to a goalless draw in the first leg at Accra Sports Stadium and suffered a 2-0 defeat in the return leg in Libya. To keep their hopes of qualification alive, the Black Stars must secure victories against Angola and Niger in their upcoming matches and rely on Sudan to lose both of their remaining games.Osei Kofi emphasized that failing to qualify could serve as a crucial lesson for the future of Ghanaian football.”During our peak, we were referred to as the Brazilians of African football. Now, having failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations in Morocco, weve experienced a decline.”However, I believe this will serve as an important lesson for us to improve before the next qualifiers. It’s truly a shame,” he added.Ghana will travel to Luanda to face the Palancas Negras before returning home to host the Super Eagles at the Accra Sports Stadium.
