She recalls how the late musician went to the salon while she was doing her hair and popped the question.

Tshabalala adds that she was shocked because she didn’t know what he was talking about.

“It turns out the elders in our family thought a Christmas wedding would be perfect for us to become Mr and Mrs Tshabalala,” she says.

She also reveals that they married on Christmas Eve 2003 and had a big wedding in May 2024.

The businesswoman also vows that she will never get married again as she’s still in love with her late husband.

MANDOZA: NKALAKATHA

Mduduzi “Mandoza” Tshabalala’s widow, Mpho Tshabalala also revealed to Sowetan in 2023 that she wished he was still alive to witness the spirit of unity his song Nkalakatha has brought to Mzansi.

She adds: “I have mixed feelings about how popular this song is during this time. I find myself asking, ‘Why isn’t Mduduzi [Mandoza’s real name] around to witness how loved his song is?’ I don’t even think he knew what his song has now become.”

“Someone even told me that Mandoza was just an inch away from ending apartheid with this song,” she laughs.

Tshabalala also previously revealed that she planned to relaunch Mandoza’s foundation at the beginning of 2024.

Spotify revealed in September 2023 that their platform registered a spike in Mandoza’s catalogue. Especially his hit song Nkalakatha, from August when his BET_Africa biopic debuted.
