A man was arrested in the city of Lakeland, in the US state of Florida, trying to steal a pole. The information was published yesterday on the website of the Orlando Sentinel newspaper.
According to the publication, Doug Hatley, 71, was spotted by FHP (Florida Highway Patrol) agents with an electric pole tied over his car on Monday morning (16).
Hatley reportedly tried to take the pole from a recycling post, but the site refused for lack of proper documentation. Then the man would have stolen the pole and tried to escape with it.
Local authorities arrested Doug Hatley, who was taken to Hillsborough County Jail and is accused of theft. A person who was with him in the car was released. The car and the pole were recovered.
According to Tampabay.com, Hatley has been arrested 48 times since 1971 for crimes such as theft, theft and property breach. On two occasions, he was arrested for prohibited sale of metallic materials.
