A man, the father of a 17-year-old teenager, attacked a 29-year-old policeman to discover his courtship with the young woman. The case happened on September 17 in the Portuguese city of Alhos Vedros, but gained notoriety when it was released today by the website of the newspaper Correio da Manhã.

Disgusted by the relationship, the 45-year-old man went to a gym where the policeman trained. There, she grabbed him in the back and stabbed the security guard in the neck while making death threats. As the cut was superficial, the victim suffered nothing.

After suffering the attack, the PSP (Public Security Police) agent went to a hospital to seek care. Upon discharge, he filed a complaint against his girlfriend’s father.

After two months on the run, his father was found and detained by the Portuguese Judiciary Police last weekend. He was indicted for attempted murder and will await trial in pre-trial detention.

The attacked police officer was not indicted for any unlawful conduct. Although the young woman is 17 years old (in Portugal, the legal age of majority is reached at 18), the relationship with her boyfriend is allowed. In the country, the age of consent is 14 years.
