Makerere University Postpones End of Semester Exams
Following the ongoing riots in and around Kampala and other parts of the country, Makerere University has suspended the end of semester examinations that were scheduled for Friday November 20 and Saturday November 21, 2020.
According to a letter dated November 19, 2020, written by the University Academic Registrar, Alfred Maskiye Namaoh, the examinations have been postponed until further notice.
“After consultations from Makerere University Management, all students and other stakeholders are informed that examinations scheduled for Friday 20th November and Saturday 21st November have been postponed,” he said.
“New dates for the conduct of the postponed examinations will be communicated later,” the letter further indicates.
It should be noted that earlier this week, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Umar Kakumba, together with the University management declared that the University had been cleared by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) to administer exams physically to continuing students as well as finalists.
As such, all students, including finalists and continuing students had resumed studies and were meant to start their examinations, some of which were scheduled for today.
Continuing students were expected to start examinations once the finalists, who started theirs on Monday November 16, completed.
