Luweero: Flavia Byekwaso Reaches Out to Blind Family with Christmas Presents

The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) Spokesperson, Brig Flavia Byekwaso has today, through her office, delivered Christmas hampers to the family of Harriet Nalubega of Yandwe Village in Luwero District.

Harriet Nalubega, 60, her daughter Rachael Naligwa, 27, and grandchildren – Robert Kitandwe, 10, Dalton Ssenkungu, 5, and 3-year-old David Lule Mukunzi all suffer from complicated eye defects, a condition that has taken a toll on the family of five.

In a message delivered by Lieutenant David Kamya who represented Gen Byekwaso, she said that the plight of the Nalubega family caught her attention after it was published in the newspaper and as a mother, it touched her heart.

Byekwaso advised that as people celebrate this festive season, they have to bear in mind that there are many who are not as privileged and such Christmas hampers can put a smile on the face of such people.

The joyful Nalubega thanked the Byekwaso for reaching out to her especially during this festive season.

“The situation hasn’t been easy, we find difficulty in feeding and my daughter and grandchildren are being troubled by by their father,” said Nalubega.

Byekwaso called upon the public and well-wishers to give a helping hand towards supporting Nalubega and her family.
