Losing to lower teams is normal – Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum
Asante Kotoko Head Coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has defended his team following their unexpected 2-1 defeat to Legon Cities in the Ghana Premier League. The match, held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, marked Kotoko’s first loss of the season and provided Legon Cities with their first victory after a challenging start.Frustrated fans expressed their disappointment over Kotoko’s failure to secure a win against a team that was at the bottom of the league table with only two points prior to the match. However, Ogum emphasized that such losses are not uncommon in football. It happens all over the world. He who is down fears no fall. It was an exciting game, a game of two halves, he stated. He acknowledged that while losing is never ideal, especially given their performance in the second half, it is part of the game. It is not the best way to lose, especially if you look at the way we played in the second half; it shouldn’t have happened, but then it has. We just have to put ourselves together and move on.Looking ahead, Asante Kotoko will face Heart of Lions in Obuasi on Sunday, while Legon Cities will take on Young Apostles in Accra a day later. Ogum’s focus now shifts to regrouping his squad and preparing for their upcoming fixtures as they aim to maintain a competitive edge in the league.
