Wednesday, February 23, 2022 – Long and winding queues have characterized President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Sagana 3 meeting as Mt. Kenyans residents turned out in droves to attend the highly anticipated meeting, to the utter surprise of many, especially Deputy President William Ruto and his camp, who thought they had conquered the mountain.
From the photos, residents, drawn from all the Mt Kenya counties, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Embu, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Nakuru, Laikipia, Murang’a, and Nyandarua started arriving at Sagana State Lodge as early as 5 am.
Sources revealed that police officers had a hectic time managing the large crowds that attended Uhuru’s meeting.
The turn-out is reported to have been large enough that many were turned away for lacking invitation cards.
The meeting is expected to have a major bearing on the political direction the region will take just five months to the August 9 general election.
President Uhuru is expected to chair the meeting in what political pundits have said is a deliberate move by the president to minimize the perceived influence of Deputy President William Ruto in the region.
It is highly expected that the head of state will use the Sagana meeting to officially launch an aggressive campaign for his handshake partner, the ODM leader Raila Odinga.
