A rare chance for South Africa to make a clean sweep and a rarer chance for the Netherlands to rub shoulders against a Test nation.

Those will be the biggest stories coming out of the three-ODI series between the sides when SuperSport Park in Centurion plays host to the first match on Friday.

Proteas rest big name players

South Africa have decided to rest a number of big names for the series.

Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock are among the six regulars out of the squad as Keshav Maharaj leads a side that has been filled with domestic proven performers like Zubayr Hamza and Ryan Rickelton, while Junior Dala is also a late replacement for Lungi Ngidi who tested positive for COVID.

All eyes will be on Wayne Parnell however, who makes his international comeback as the first former Kolpak-returnee after the system ended.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

The excitement of Wayne Parnell being back in the Proteas set-up is not just to see if he can add to his 508 runs and 94 wickets in ODIs, but the end of the four-year exile of the returning prodigal son could help chart the careers of many Kolpak exiles. Also returning to his home ground, albeit in different colours, is the combative Roelof van der Merwe, who has 26 white-ball caps for South Africa and has seen his career-best ODI figures (3/27) come at this ground in 2009.
