Four missing for Kaizer Chiefs

Bongani Sam and Mduduzi Mdantsane are still out with injuries. New left-back Sam picked up a foot problem in Turkey while attacking midfielder Mdantsane was in a car accident and is still recovering. Right-back Dillan Solomons is a long-term absentee but isn’t miles away from a return. Utility defender, 30-year-old Mozambican Edmilson Dove, isn’t match fit and won’t be involved against Sundowns.

Match facts

You have to go back to April 2021 for Chiefs’ last win over the South African champions in any competition. Ironically, Uruguayan Sirino was a goal-scorer for Downs on that afternoon.

Downs are unbeaten in each of the last eight H2Hs across all competitions.

Sundowns have won four of the last five meetings and did the league double last term by an aggregate score of 7-2.

The sides lock horns at FNB Stadium on Saturday 28 September with kickoff at 15:00.

Sirino looks like a star

With two wins from two Betway Premiership matches, Nasreddine Nabi has made the perfect start to his tenure as Chiefs boss. A 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants on Matchday 1 was followed by an impressive 3-1 win away to AmaZulu. Gaston Sirino has impressed with two assists and a goal in those two outings and he’ll pull the strings against his old club on Saturday. He won 11 trophies in six years with Sundowns.
