*We’ll continue to pray for him—CAN

Both traditional and religious leaders in Ijawland have applauded the move to light up Bomadi, headquarters of Bomadi local government area of Delta State, and surrounding communities in the council area, which is a bold step taken by the executive chairman of the council area, Hon. Rawlings Dagidi Andaye.

Recall that earlier last week, the Bomadi local government boss hosted the management of Tempo Energy Nigeria Limited in his office, where a deal was struck with the company to light up the riverside town and its surrounding communities.

After all necessary agreements had been ratified, the local government council boss and his team led the management of Tempo Energy to a designated land for the project in Bomadi, where a 400 megawatts turbine will be installed to generate electricity.

However, in a vox pop on the development, conducted by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the council chairman, Chancel Bomadi Sunday, the news of Bomadi to be lit up by a turbine having been in absolute darkness for over a decade, aroused the feelings of respite, joy and encomiums from Ijaw leaders and youths, not just in Bomadi local government area but across various clans in Ijawland.

It is Fantastic and Highly Commendable—HRM Oporomo

The Pere of Kerebiri-Mein Kingdom in Bomadi local government area, HRM (Barr) Godspower Tam Oporomo, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Andaye for the bold step taken with a promise to give all needed support to the project.

King Oporomo, who is the Commissioner for Ijaw National Affairs in Bayelsa State, said: “This is a highly commendable project, it is fantastic!

“Since he came on board, he has been doing what several others could not do. You can imagine, he has embarked on several projects in just a few days in office, projects such as building of civic centre, construction and renovation works and giving the local government secretariat a befitting status.

“I am happy, my people are happy and we will give him all necessary support. When I come down, I will pay him a visit to personally acknowledge the good works he has been doing in the council area.

“The long-awaited lighting of Bomadi and its environs is highly commendable and I thank him on behalf of my people, my kingdom and the good people of Bomadi local government area”.

We’re delighted this is coming to fruition—Bishop Egbebo

In his reaction, the bishop Catholic Diocese of Bomadi, Most Rev. Hyacinth Oroko Egbebo, said: “This is the kind of positive development we have been expecting from the government.

“We are very grateful to the Dagidi administration and we are so delighted this light is coming to fruition in Bomadi. I believe we are going to get so much more from the Dagidi administration.

“I thank the local government chairman, his executive and the collaborators in bringing relief and succour to the population of indigenes in Bomadi local government area.

“We expect more good things from his leadership and may God guide and bless him”.

We’ll continue to pray for him—CAN chair

Moreover, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Bomadi local government chapter, Apostle (Dr) Liberty Ufuoma Usiayo, said that the body of Christ would continue to pray for the Andaye-led administration to achieve set goals.

“On behalf of the Christian community, I want to appreciate Hon. Dagidi Andaye for a job well done. We bless God for what He is using Dagidi to do.

“He has started very well, lighting up Bomadi is another thing we’ve been hoping for all these while. As you know, Bomadi has been in darkness for more than fifteen years and Dagidi appears to be the instrument God is using to light up Bomadi.

“We pray that God will earnestly bless and lift him, and we pray for God’s protection of his government all through the number of years he is going to last in office.

“Once again, on behalf of the church in Bomadi local government area, I say thank you Hon. Dagidi and we are not going to relent, we will continue to pray that this project must come to pass. I will personally lead a team of pastors to visit the site of the project”, Apostle Usiayo said.

Ijaw Youths are Happy with Hon. Andaye—Ex-agitator, General Ekiyes

In his reaction, the leader, APC Ex-agitators Forum, Delta State, General Para Ekiyes, said that all Ijaw youths were happy with recent happenings in Bomadi local government area, stressing the bold steps taken by the council chairman to lift Bomadi out of the dungeon were highly welcomed to all Ijaw youths.

He said: “I’m the national chairman of the 3rd Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, and leader of the APC Ex-agitators Forum in Delta State. What the local government chairman is doing here gives every Ijaw the hope that Bomadi as a central point of the nation will be celebrated in the future.

“Light signifies development and this project is a welcome development to all Ijaw youths, in fact all the projects he is currently embarking on are development-oriented.

“When this project is completed, Bomadi will boom and many traders, businesses and people will relocate to this place. It will be a place of attraction and all neighbouring communities in Burutu local government area and Ekeremor in Bayelsa State will feel the impact of development in this area.

“I’m from Burutu local government area but have a residence in Bomadi, and I want to assure him that Ijaw youths are happy over what he is doing for the progress and development of Ijaw land”.

However, more and more encomiums on the council chairman’s bold step are still banging my phone, especially calls from Ijaws in various professions expressing their desire to see this gigantic, laudable project come to fruition.
