Liberian Immigrant Naquetta Ricks Seeks Reelection to Colorado State Seat in Upcoming U.S. Election
Liberian Immigrant seeking for a third legislative seat for Colorado State in the ensuing United States elections Naquetta Ricks has vowed to continue to fight for affordable housing for citizens and the awarding of state contracts to small businesses.
Americans are expected to go to the polls this weekend to elect a new President to stir the affairs of the country for the next four years.
Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are running for the presidency.
Americans will also cast their votes for members of the House of Representatives, Senate and other local offices.
Madam Naquetta Ricks of Liberian descent is one of those running for a third two-year term as Colorado State Representative for District 40.
She is contesting against the Make America Great Again (MAGA) Republican candidate.
Speaking in an interview with the BBC over the weekend, Madam Ricks expressed optimism that she will win the election.
“I am seeking reelection based on the work that I have already done within the Colorado State House. I have been a champion for fighting for people to keep their homes, fighting for affordable housing, small businesses so that they also have access to state contracts.”
She maintained that as a fighter for civil protection and the promotion of transparency and equity in transactions, she is seeking reelection because there are “lot of work to be done.”
She observed that the turn out process of voting is slowed as electorates are waiting for “last minute to time” to cast their votes.
However, she disclosed that efforts are being applied to encourage citizens to cast their ballots.
