Liberia: Weah-led Government Not to Work with Critics of the Administration

MONROVIA – President George Manneh Weah has lambasted the opposition for “fighting his administration not to succeed,” saying government will not work with people who are intending to undermine gains being made.

Speaking at the campaign rally of Coalition for Democratic Change Senatorial Candidate, Gbezohngar Milton Findley in Buchanan, Grand Bassa Couunty over the weekend, President Weah said he is seeking the support of those who have the capability of promoting development.

“We want to work with people that want to move our agenda forward. We don’t want to work with people that will do things so that this government will not succeed,” President Weah said.

However, he told supporters at the Findley’s rally that it is incumbent upon members of the CDC to ensure that his leadership agenda is successful.

“I want you to know that we are the ruling party and no matter what they say we are, we have a responsibility to make sure our government works,” President Weah averred.

Pres. Weah, “Those that say this government is not working for you are not telling you the truth and will never tell you. Liberia, since 1847, some President served for years, but as young I am, my record shows that for the three years, there is no President in the history of this country compares to me.

“I defy anyone to match my record. Today, fees have been paid, people are being paid and hospital built.”

President Weah said it was, however, saddening that with these gains and his quest to maintain peace, people have attributed the CDC to ‘trouble makers,’ when the party’s record has since demonstrated peace.

Pres. Weah cautioned partisans of the CDC that they should barely expect those in opposition to speak about reality on government performance.

At the same time, President Weah whose leadership has initiated the pavement of the Buchanan Fair Ground Road told residents of Bassa that they will continue to experience more developments, once they elect to power, people who share similar developmental visions with him.

For this reason, he sees it prudent that Gbezohngar Finley be elected Senator of the county, noting they he shares similar developmental vision for Liberia.

“Grand Bassa County, I have brought your candidate, whether they were in opposition or not, you have to support him,” he maintained.

In Grand Bassa County, President Weah also visited Bacorli, where the famous Sunset Beach is located, where people of the area presented a parcel of land to First Lady Clar Marie Weah for the construction of a recreation center.
