Liberia: Warriors, Discoveries AS Bages And Watanga Qualify For Paynesville Cup Semi-final

Monrovia -Black Man Warrior FC, Discoveries AA As Bages and Watanga FC are through to the semifinals of the Paynesville Cup after their wins in the quarter final. Newly promoted Black man Warriors secured a 2-0 win over Global Pharma on Tuesday at the SKD practice pitch.

The club produced a composed performance to grab their second win of the tournament, courtesy of goals from Elijah Reeves and Augustine Dayougar.

BMW showcased their strength and prowess as reigning Orange Second Division League Champions and maintained a perfect unbeaten preseason record in the tournament with two wins and one draw from three games.

The club has scored 10 goals in three games and has so far kept two clean sheets as well.

In the second quarter final match, Discoveries AS overpowered Heaven Eleven to a 3-0 win to progress to the last four of the preseason tournament.

On Wednesday Guinean side AS Bages FC fought hard to secure a win over youthful FC Garou

The visiting team AS Bages pulled a narrow 3-4 win over FC Garou to book their place in ten semifinals.

In the late kickoff which was very entertaining, Watanga FC proved supremacy over Paynesville FC to collect the last semifinal slot.

The champions of Liberian football took a 2-1 lead to the break after they played the entire second half with a man down.

Paynesville FC fought to Level things but Watanga proved too strong for them as the match ended 3-1 to the champions.

Watanga will face Discoveries AS in the semifinal while Back Man Warriors will face Guinean side AS Bages on Friday.

The Paynesville Cup is a preseason tournament intended to prepare teams for the upcoming LFA national league.

This year’s edition of the tournament is the second edition that is expected to be played annually as the first edition was won by Heaven Eleven FC.
