The Executive Assistant to the Chairperson, Vivian Akoto, speaking on behalf of LACC Executive Chairperson, Alexandra Zoe at a one-day stakeholders’ meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, emphasized the importance of the initiative, adding that it is part of the New LACC Act of 2022, which is designed to enforce compliance with financial disclosure laws, restore public trust, and align Liberia with international anti-corruption standards.

She described it as a critical step toward promoting integrity and good governance in Liberia’s public service.

“This initiative underscores our commitment to ensuring that public officials uphold the highest standards of accountability. By verifying asset declarations, we will build public confidence and align with global best practices in anti-corruption efforts,” Akoto said.

According to her, the new LACC Act of 2022, section 10.1, has empowered the LACC to ensure adherence to asset declaration law, enhancing transparency and accountability across all branches of government.

She further said the LACC will collaborate with key institutional partners like the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), Liberia Business Registry (LBR), Ministry of Transport (MOT), Liberia Land Authority (LLA), the Center for National Documents and Records Agency (CNDRA), and the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA), to enhance the depth and accuracy of the verification process, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of all declarations.

Also speaking, LRA Assistant Commissioner for Professional Ethics Division Sumo Kalape, lauded LACC for the strive geared towards promoting accountability in Liberia.

“On behalf of the commissioner General of the LRA, Hon. Dorbor Jallah, he is very key to providing all of his support that is needed to ensure the success of the asset declaration verification process is successful,” Kolape added.
