Liberia: Judi Endee Urges President Boakai to Maintain the Peace As Liberia Marks 21-year of Uninterrupted Peace

Zorzor City, Lofa County—Liberia’s former Culture Ambassador and Executive Director of the Liberia Crusaders for Peace, Judi Endee, at a program marking Liberia’s 21-year of uninterrupted peace, urged Liberians to dialogue instead of fighting each other, something she says contributed to the country’s 14-year civil war.

Speaking at the Kukatornon Peace Festival organized by Liberia Crusaders for Peace on Monday August 19, 2024, in Zorzor City, Lofa County, Madam Endee said despite Liberians have enjoyed 21-year of uninterrupted peace, it is incumbent on President Joseph Nyuma Boakia to maintain the gains his predecessors have made in sustaining Liberia’s peace.

“Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf kept the peace, Ambassador George Weah kept the peace, our President Joseph Nyuma Boakia is in the chair, and he must maintain the peace that we all enjoy,” Endee said.

Madam Endee explained how she became a dedicated advocate for peace, stating that after advocating for the signing of the peace accord in Accra, Ghana, she arrived at Roberts International Airport and made a personal commitment: “From this day forward, I will always advocate for peace in Liberia and work to maintain it.” She added that this was the inspiration behind the creation of Kukatornon.

Madam Endee said: “21years ago we started this Kukatornon. You know Liberian people like to be fake but if being fake is the way to live, I will not be a part of it.”

According to her, the reason of taking this year’s Kukatornon Peace event to Lofa County is based on the construction of Unification monument in the county.

“The reason why we decided to bring the Kukatornon here in the 21-years is because of the Unification monument. I came to Lofa County, went to Tamba Taylor’s home, I led the Tamba Taylor peace crusade. I almost got killed in Zorzor. This is the Judi Endee here,” Madam Endee said.

She added: “My people, war is not good, forget about the politics, let’s do peace, let’s build our country. We are brothers and sisters. My party is Liberia, no political affiliations. If you think being a Liberian, patriotism, or nationalism is a sin, then I am a sinner.”
