Aware International School System, an Indian-run institution located on the GSA Road in Paynesville, organized the exhibition.

The event was attended by students, parents, teachers, and school administrators.

The theme of this year’s exhibition was ‘Agriculture for Self-Reliance’. Students from all grades participated in the exhibition, which focused on promoting sustainable and affordable food production among students and the people of Liberia.

Some students created working models of machines and devices, while others made art and crafts from recycled materials.

The exhibition was a great success, showcasing the hard work and creativity of the students. The judges were impressed with the students’ creativity and innovation.

The event aimed to teach students the importance of science, technology, engineering, arts, and agriculture.

In his remarks, guest speaker P. Folton Blasin, Assistant Minister for Agriculture, who stood in for Agriculture Minister Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah, praised the administration for instilling in students a profound sense of reverence for agriculture and imparting knowledge about cultivation methods.

Minister Blasin assured the students of the government’s commitment to supporting the establishment of an agricultural club in the school and other schools nationwide. He mentioned that the government had already launched agricultural farms at the University of Liberia for public universities and community colleges.

“We will ensure that all Public Universities and Community Colleges have agriculture farms where students will gain practical agricultural knowledge upon graduation,” Minister Blasin stated. He emphasized the importance of decreasing the agri-imports bill and increasing farmers’ income to achieve self-reliance and self-sustainability in agriculture.

Blasin noted that agriculture contributes significantly to the country’s economy, accounting for 38.8% of the GDP and employing more than 70% of the population. He emphasized the need to support smallholder farmers to fully utilize Liberia’s agricultural potential.

“This administration will adopt the value-chain approach to agriculture development and take specific actions to develop the value-chains of targeted agricultural commodities that support national food self-sufficiency and the development of the national economy,” Minister Blasin added.

Both Assistant Ministers Blasin and Clifford Konah, Assistant Minister for Teacher Education at the Ministry of Education, visited each of the students’ exhibits, carefully inspecting what they had produced. They were notably impressed with the students’ agricultural abilities as they admired the lush vegetation that filled the hall.
