Kwara APC ward congress holds July 31

Kwara All Progressives Congress (APC) said its ward congress will take place on July 31 across the 16 local government areas as directed by the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).

It added the two-week extension for member registration and revalidation given the State by the Mai Mala Buni-led committee is sacrosanct.

APC factional caretaker chairman Abdullahi Samari stated these to reporters in Ilorin, the state capital.

Samari, alongside a three-member committee from Abuja, also revealed the party had alerted security agents for optimum protection.

He added: “We want to be careful as we have had stories of the people who are not probably genuinely interested will try to come some disturbances when are going about doing our congresses.

“We want to follow party guidelines and procedures to be followed during the congresses across the 16 local government areas of the state.

“To avert any disruption of the exercise we have made contact with all the security agencies in the state. And we are sure they will give us the needed security protection during the period.

“We are confident that the national secretariat of our party will carry out fresh registration and revalidation of members as it has promised to extend for two weeks.

“We urge our members to be patient. The planned fresh membership registration and revalidation is not meant to appease a particular group in the party.”

On the congresses, the chairman said: “In line with Articles 11:A subsection (1 – x 111) and Article 16 (1) of the Party Constitution (as amended) the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kwara will be organising its congresses across the Sixteen Local Government Area in Kwara State as directed by the CECPC.

“The committee, in a bid to ensure open, credible and fair congresses that reflect, the sanctity of Internal Democracy in the Party, has issued a guideline for the Conduct of the Congresses of the Party in the States.

“This guideline will be strictly enforced in the State to ensure fair Participation by all members who can vote and be voted for.

“It is pertinent to, therefore let members know that the ward congress slated for 31st July 2021 will definitely hold in Kwara State with strict compliance with the Congress Guideline that will be made available to all the party members through the State and Local Government Party Secretariat.

“The ward congress committee members, as appointed by the CECPC are already in the state to carry out their assignment in line with the guidelines.”
