Kotoko can deepen woes of Legon Cities

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Legon Cities will face off at the University of Ghana (UG) Stadium in a Ghana Premier League outstanding encounter today.

Kotoko drew vital points on Sunday when they were held to a pulsating 1-1 draw by Basake Holy Stars in Wenchi.

That effectively erases any hope of jumping to the top spot of the table with a win over Legon Cities today.

With Gold Stars leading the pack with three points after an impressive win away over Hearts of

Oak, Kotoko can level the points but must score more to overtake the current league leaders.

That leaves them with a difficult battle against a side that is languishing at the bottom of the table and would hope to breathe some life into their campaign.

Legon Cities are yet to taste a win so far in the competition after seven games and it appears the patience of their fans is running out.

Head Coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin, last week made an appeal to the teeming fans to be calm and support the team which he thinks consists of young and inexperienced performers.

But for the fans, such excuses would not always make them quiet. Against the Porcupine Warriors, they will still demand maximum points because of the excitement it will generate among them.

That should be the factor that drives Cities to pull what could be a big blow for Kotoko’s quest to keep Gold Stars in a distance.

At home and in front of their fans, Cities would attempt the unthinkable for what would be their first win in the championship.

However, the scoring form of Albert Amoah for Kotoko would be one puzzle Coach Fabin and his defence would have to find a solution for by keeping him at bay.

Kotoko remain clear favourites in this encounter but any form of complacency on their part can see them laugh at the wrong sides of their faces.
