Kogi state government on Wednesday debunked reports that a strange disease killed over 50 persons in the Olomaboro Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Saka Audu in an interview monitored on Channels TV said that the deaths could only have been recorded in neighbouring Enugu State.

He explained that it was impossible for the disease to cross the boundary from Enugu to Kogi.

He lamented that it was sad and disturbing that the residents of Etteh community, Olamaboro LGA were thrown into confusion by the outbreak of an epidemic alien to them.

He added that the cause of the disease remains unknown, and that infected persons die within a week of contracting it.
