Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka retains seat

Khwisero Member of Parliament (MP), Christopher Aseka, has retained the seat after defeating his only opponent, Godfrey Kanoti, with a huge margin.

The MP garnered 28,156 votes against Kanoti’s 4,673. A total of 419 votes were rejected.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Returning Officer for Khwisero Constituency Thomas Rotich said the Constituency had a total of 55, 091 registered voters.

The MP vied on an Orange Democratic (ODM) Party ticket while his opponent Kanoti vied on an Amani National Congress (ANC) party ticket.

The MP-elect while receiving his certificate thanked the electorate for giving him another chance promising to commit most of his time to fulfilling his manifesto and agenda.

The MP was first elected in the 12th Parliament in 2017 after working in the public sector as a procurement officer at the Nyeri Level 5 Hospital from 2004-2005.

Between 2005-2006, Aseka served as a Procurement Officer at Thika Level 5 Hospital before moving to Nakuru County Government where he was appointed as the Head of Supply chain in the Department of Health from 2007 to 2016.

In the 12th Parliament, the MP was a member of the Budget and Appropriation Committee.
