Kenyan Content Creator Azziad attends London Premiere of “Wicked”
Kenyan content creator and media personality Azziad Nasenya has added another milestone during a visit to London, where she attended the premiere of “Wicked”.
The TikTok star also had the opportunity to meet the cast of the film including music superstar Ariana Grande.
Azziad, who gained fame by creating popular TikTok dances, has been a trailblazer for Kenyan digital content creators.
Her visit to TikTok’s London headquarters earlier in the day underscores her growing influence as an ambassador for African content on the global stage.
The “Wicked” premiere, which drew luminaries from across the entertainment industry, celebrated the upcoming film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, the movie features an all-star cast, including Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.
The film delves into the untold story of the witches of Oz, exploring themes of friendship, prejudice, and ambition in a richly imaginative narrative.
Taking to TikTok to narrate her day while making a Get Ready With Me video ahead of the premiere she expressed her excitement as she showed fans what she would wear and that she would be doing her own makeup.
Later on at the premiere, she shared a video with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande captioning it, “We’re gonna be popular.”
The marketing campaign for “Wicked” has been extensive, leveraging social media, partnerships with digital influencers, and high-profile events to build anticipation.
With a strong fan base from its Broadway success and a cast of globally recognisable stars, the film is projected to be a box office hit (BBC).
Critics have praised the trailers for their visual spectacle and the film’s potential to reinvigorate the fantasy-musical genre, predicting that Wicked could dominate awards season and become a cultural phenomenon.
Azziad’s meeting with the Wicked cast and being invited to be one of the film’s marketing partners in the East African region, further highlights the global appeal of her brand.
“Wicked” premieres in Kenya on November 29 at cinemas across the country.
