Kira Road Police is investigating an aggravated robbery in which two armed thugs raided an apartment and made off with money amounting to 190 million shillings.

This robbery took place on Tuesday night at around 10 pm when two men armed with a pistol and knives attacked residents of Mid land complex located in Kanisa zone, Kikaaya parish, Kawempe Division and robbed US dollars amounting to approximately 180 million Uganda shillings and 1 million Uganda shillings in local currency.

“Mid land complex is an apartment. The thugs robbed residents in level three. They put everyone down and tied them and they searched room by room,” said Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango in a statement.

Other items that were stolen from residents of this complex include 11 mobile phones, laptops, electrical appliances and other valuable items.

Onyango said that Police was informed late when the thugs had fled but they responded and processed the scene of crime and also recorded statements from witnesses.

He assured the public that police is yet to arrest the suspects basing on the evidence picked from the scene of crime.

“We appeal to members of the business community not to keep large sums of money in their premises,” he said.
