Kaizer Chiefs transfers: One midfielder leaving, THREE arriving?
The Kaizer Chiefs midfield could look very different next season according to the latest rumours doing the rounds.
Chiefs are now investigating a deal for Mkhulise
According to Freddie Hiney, Chiefs are interested in formulating an approach for Sundowns’ technically gifted midfield schemer Sphelele Mkhulise. The 28-year-old from Pietermaritzburg has three goals from eight appearances across all competitions this term. However, he only made 15 league appearances for the champions last term. Overall, he’s made 156 appearances for them, scoring 10 goals and supplying five assists.
“Kaizer Chiefs are targeting Mkhulise…he’s not playing much so he might be open to a new challenge, especially under [coach] Nabi. Seeing how well [Gastón] Sirino is doing might be key in luring him.”
Before concluding that the “Chiefs are trying to understand Mkhulise’s situation with Sundowns.”
Zungu and Nduli are on the Christmas wish list
32-year-old Bongani Zungu is on Amakhosi’s wish list for Christmas. The former Amiens, Glasgow Rangers and Vitoria Guimaraes midfielder is a free agent. Meanwhile, The South African’s Siseko Gwegwe reports on Chiefs’ desire to land Stellies midfielder Sihle Nduli.
“It’s true there has been interest in Bongani Zungu by Chiefs, but there be a lot that has to change at Chiefs for them to then actually sign Zungu,” a source told Soccer Laduma.
Mthethwa could be the sacrificial lamb
The 30-year-old midfielder from Escourt, KwaZulu Natal, has not made any impression on coach Nasreddine Nabi. Without a single appearance on the bench this season, a source has told the Citizen that Kaizer Chiefs have released the former Stellenbosch FC star.

A defensive reshuffle for the next two games
Meanwhile, on the pitch, Chiefs have a few selection headaches and concerns before their next clash. Nasreddine Nabi’s team selections in the Betway Premiership make it obvious that his preferred central defensive pairing is Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel. The pair started Chiefs’ first four league matches together; Given Msimango started in the 2-2 draw against Magesi because of Miguel’s suspension for an accumulation of yellows. Now, after the Angolan’s latest two-match suspension after his dismissal against Sundowns in the Carling Knockout, Msimango gets another chance. Will he step up and make the most of it?
Will Chiefs get what they want for Christmas in 2024?
