Kaizer Chiefs have been handed a major blow in their pursuit of SuperSport United star Sipho Mbule.
According to reports, Mbule looks set to sign for rivals Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of the season, following ex teammate Teboho Mokoena across the street.
Mbule was linked with a move to both Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs during the previous transfer window however things simply didn’t materialize for the 23-year-old.
His future, according to reports, looks all but confirmed and his days in a SuperSport United jersey are numbered!
Mamelodi Sundowns to pip Kaizer Chiefs to yet another star!
“It’s no secret in the game that Mbule has a deal on the table to join Sundowns in July 2022, from what I understand.” – a source told SoccerLaduma regarding the Kaizer Chiefs target.
“The agreement between Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport, may have certain conditions to it, but we are led to believe it’s as good as done,”
Matthews blasts Mbule
SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews wasted no time in blasting the Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns target last month. He’ll undoubtedly have to raise his game if he wants to shine at the highly competitive Brazilians.
“We love Sipho Mbule , he’s a great talent, there was interest in him. But he has to do better. You can’t be lapped by your teammates in training. He came back 5kg overweight after Christmas and that’s just not good enough” Matthews told SAFM.
Mamelodi Sundowns already bolstered their midfield with the signing of Teboho Mokoena, Erwin Saavedra and Surprise Ralani in January.
Kaizer Chiefs on the other hand failed to complete a single first team signing during the January transfer window.
The Glamour Boys however are expected to welcome banished AmaZulu star Siyethemba Sithebe in July after failing to land him in January.
