Kaizer Chiefs to add players in these TWO positions in January?
Kaizer Chiefs have reiterated their plans in the January transfer window. They’ve isolated two key areas of weakness in the squad.
Chiefs want new attackers
Amakhosi technical staff want to ship out George Matlou and bring in a few attack-minded players when January rolls around.
Via SoccerLaduma:
“The club appears to be exploring options to loan Matlou to a team where he can stay fit and get regular playing time in the second half of the season.
“Although he has resumed training after his knee surgery, it doesn’t necessarily mean he is in the coach’s plans for this season. To ensure he gets the opportunity to play, they are likely looking to loan him out. The club is believed to be searching for a team that needs him and is willing to agree to the loan terms and conditions. Given that his contract runs until June 2025, there is also a possibility that the loaning team could negotiate a permanent transfer,” an insider revealed.
“The coach seems satisfied with nearly 99% of the squad he has started the season with. He is reportedly in need of just one winger and one striker, which he has been trying to bring in from outside. However, since those plans haven’t materialized, it appears that players currently injured or not playing, including George Matlou, are not part of his immediate plans,” the source added.
Which strikers and wingers are on the agenda?
According to Soccer-Laduma, Amakhosi could revisit interest in the experienced Kenyan legend Olunga to complement Ranga Chivaviro up top.
“You see at the moment the Fiston Mayele mission looks impossible because after losing Fagrie Lakay, Pyramids FC don’t want to lose Mayele as well. That’s why Chiefs are now looking at Michael (Olunga) for January as well. So they are revisiting that interest. They feel it will be much easier getting Michael at this point than to stay on the Mayele chase,” said one source.

Amakhosi roll into the Carling Knockout quarters
Chiefs thumped SuperSport 4-0 with goals from Gaston Sirino, Yusuf Maart, Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley Du Preez. They’re now in the last eight of the Carling Knockout. Amakhosi, meanwhile, have just under a week to wait until their next Betway Premiership fixture. They’ve started this campaign in decent fashion, with two wins from three, and a recent defeat to Sundowns. Their goal, of course, will be to compete for next season’s MTN8 at a minimum. Here are their next few fixtures:

Kaze arrives at Naturena
Meanwhile, the cub has a new assistant coach. Burundian tactician Cedric Kaze quickly became a top candidate to work alongside head coach Nasreddine Nabi as his new assistant. The pair know each other well after working together for Yanga SC. Kaze is the former Burundi National Team coach and has worked with the U17s, U20s and U23s, as well as spending over two years with FC Barcelona’s youth sides. He advocates a meticulous approach to planning, analysis and tactics. He’s also fluent in six languages, namely French, Kirundi, Kiswahili, English, German, and Spanish.
