Kaizer Chiefs salaries: Top three after Khune’s exit

Kaizer Chiefs salaries: Top three after Khune’s exit

With Keagan Dolly and Itumeleng Khune of the books, Kaizer Chiefs still have some seriously good earners at the club. Let’s take a closer look, shall we?

Kaizer Chiefs’ top monthly earners

Zitha Kwinika – R370,000

Ashley du Preez – R300,000

Yusuf Maart – R300,000

Previously, Keagan Dolly was allegedly earning a reported R1.4 million a month. However, the former Sundowns and Montpellier man refutes those claims, saying they’re well wide of the mark. Outgoing skipper and club legend Itumeleng Khune was on a reported R480,000 a month.

Failed loan move away for Kwinika

Chiefs invested heavily in new central defenders this window with R14.5 million spent on Rushwin Dortley (R10 million) and Inacio Miguel (R4.5 million) who are now the club’s regular starting pair. Spiwe Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe will have to win their places back. Kwinika won’t get a sniff of the first team by the looks of it. Therefore, his hefty wages look like a serious piece of financial mismanagement. He’s made 46 appearances for Amakhosi across two stints. A loyal servant and top pro, but that salary isn’t warranted although the club tried its best to secure a loan move away from Naturena. To no avail.

Maart’s importance in midfield and as a leader

Yusuf Maart is one of the first names on the team sheet at Kaizer Chiefs, regardless of who the manager is picking the side. His tactical smartness and versatility, coupled with his leadership skills, make him indispensable to the cause.

Betway Premiership weekend preview

After two wins from two and an impressive 100% start to the campaign, Amakhosi face the sternest test of them all. The Betway Premiership champions Sundowns roll into Soweto to face Chiefs on Saturday 28 September. Kickoff is at 15:00 in this crunch clash.
